Boston Bruins Eyeing Canucks' Boeser and Garland in Trade Rumors
The Boston Bruins are reportedly in the running to acquire two star forwards from the Vancouver Canucks, with the trade deadline looming on Friday. According to NHL insider James Murphy of RG.org, the Bruins are showing interest in Canucks forwards Brock Boeser and Conor Garland.
A Western Conference NHL pro scout revealed, "They’ve continued to track both players again lately." This comes as no surprise, as Bruins general manager Don Sweeney has been a long-time admirer of Garland, and was reportedly prepared to pursue Boeser if he became a free agent.
Boeser, a top-six winger, is in the first year of his seven-year, $50.75 million contract. He has accumulated 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points in 53 games this season. Meanwhile, Garland, a middle-six forward, has recorded seven goals and 19 assists for 26 points in 49 games. His six-year, $36 million deal begins next season, making both players potential long-term additions for Boston.
However, a source close to the situation suggests that the Bruins are more inclined to acquire Garland over Boeser. The source stated, "I’m told it’s much more likely Garland gets dealt rather than Boeser, and the Bruins are right there."
With the NHL trade deadline approaching at 3 p.m. ET on Friday, the Bruins are in a race against time to bolster their playoff chances. As the season progresses, fans and analysts alike will be eager to see if Boston makes a move to bring either Boeser or Garland to the ice.
Stay tuned for more updates on the NHL's trade deadline, as the Bruins look to make their mark on the league.
