The Main Isle of Wight Road to Ryde Through Havenstreet Closed Again
The main road through Havenstreet, a key route into Ryde on the Isle of Wight, has been closed once more, causing disruption for commuters and visitors alike. This closure is essential to facilitate urgent repairs by Southern Water, ensuring the safety and functionality of the transportation network.
The road closure spans a distance of 104 meters in the northeasterly direction, starting from its junction with Station Road. This coincides with ongoing work on Binstead Road, another vital route into Ryde, adding to the complexity of navigation for residents and tourists.
Motorists traveling from Newport, Cowes, and the West Wight will need to adjust their routes, opting for The Downs Road or a longer diversion through Arreton and via Lake. Additionally, Newnham Road is also scheduled for a temporary closure between today and Wednesday (28th), further impacting local transportation.
This is not the first time the Havenstreet Main Road has been closed in recent months. The previous closure occurred on January 15, highlighting the ongoing challenges in maintaining critical infrastructure on the island. As the repairs progress, residents and visitors are advised to plan their routes accordingly and explore alternative paths to ensure a smooth journey.
