Get ready for an exciting theatrical experience! A beloved British actor, known for his roles in popular shows, is set to take center stage in a gripping spy thriller that’s making its way to Norwich.
Ralf Little, famed for his performances as Antony Royle in the critically acclaimed comedy "The Royle Family" and as a detective in "Death in Paradise," will portray the character Alec Leamas in the inaugural stage adaptation of John le Carré's iconic novel, "The Spy Who Came in From the Cold."
This much-anticipated UK tour kicks off in March, with the production landing at Norwich Theatre Royal from June 16 to June 20.
Little is not only recognized for his television roles but also has a diverse filmography that includes titles such as "24 Hour Party People," "The Waiting Room," and "Powder." Additionally, he lent his voice to the lead character in the animated film "Underdogs," which featured stars like Ariana Grande and Nicholas Hoult.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Little remarked, "It is a huge privilege to be stepping into the shoes of one of John le Carré's great literary creations, Alec Leamas, as we bring the murky world of his Cold War masterpiece to life on stage. I first encountered 'The Spy Who Came in From the Cold' when I was just 16 years old, and its impact has lingered with me ever since."
He continued, "Upon reading David Eldridge's outstanding script, I found myself once again captivated by the story's unexpected twists and high-stakes cat-and-mouse game between East and West, brilliantly captured in this play. It's fascinating how a narrative penned in the 1960s can resonate so powerfully with the current climate we live in."
Little expressed his eagerness to present this tale to both new audiences and seasoned theatre-goers as it travels across various cities in the UK.
This adaptation marks the first time le Carré's celebrated work, renowned for other novels like "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" and "The Night Manager," is being transformed for the stage. Tickets are already on sale, with prices starting at just £15.
